Research Experience

Intelligent Transportation Systems Laboratory, MIT

Postdoctoral Associate (April 08- Present, working off-campus since October 08)

Research Affiliate (November 07- March 08)

Research Assistant (September 02- September 07)

Worked on transportation modeling and traffic simulation projects including Next Generation Simulation Projects (NGSIM) of the Federal Highway Agency and CityMotion of the MIT-Portugal Program. Responsibilities included research plan and model development, project management, preparation of research proposals and training junior students.

Developed driving behavior models using advanced discrete choice modeling techniques and validated them in microscopic traffic simulation program MITSIMLab. Driving behavior models developed for the NGSIM project are being used in leading commercial simulators including VISSIM, PARAMICS, AIMSUN and TransModeler.

Developed models for left-hand drive traffic in collaboration with Malaysian University of Science and Technology.

Assisted Seoul Development Initiative in application of MITSIMLab in Korean networks.

Participated in designing stated preference survey and simulation framework for testing the preference for smart transport modes and improved information services in Lisbon, Portugal as part of the MIT-Portugal Program.

Collaborated with Transport for London (TfL) as part of the MIT-TfL research initiative to investigate the causes of traffic congestion in London.

RAND Europe, Cambridge, UK

Analyst, Modeling Group (October 07- March 08)

Associate Analyst, Modeling Group (Summer 05)

Worked on consumer choice modeling and travel demand modeling projects including the Value of Time study for East London. Model development involved stated preference survey designs and statistical estimation of models using discrete choice techniques.

Cambridge Systematics, Cambridge, MA

Research Analyst  (May 03-July 03)

Worked on freight demand modeling, commercial vehicle modeling, emission modeling and travel demand modeling projects. Conducted software training sessions for the Travel Demand Forecasting Group.

IUCN, The World Conservation Union

Research Assistant (May-July 00)

Worked on Sustainable Environmental Management Projects of South Asian Region. Conducted literature reviews and compiled research reports.
