3.       Laureate of the annual (2002) competition” by the Royal academy of Overseas Sciences, Belgium for the study “Photovoltaic Supplement to Diesel Generator Based Supply in an Off-grid Location of East Malaysia” that was adjudged as the best one among the studies received under the category of Technical Sciences from international researchers.

  • Conducting heat cycle test of the indigenous H and T type connectors for use in the distribution lines of Rural Electrification Board, Bangladesh, 1993 –1996.

  • Conducting transient stability study to identify the exact causes of blackouts in the Bangladesh grid system on 16 November 2007 following a devastating cyclone named SIDR as requested by Power Grid Company of Bangladesh  Ltd. (PGCB).

  • Conducting electromagnetic transients and stability studies to identify the root cause of blackouts in the Bangladesh grid system on 15 December 2007 as requested by Power Grid Company of Bangladesh  Ltd. (PGCB).

  • Review and supervision (March 2008 - May 2009) on behalf of  Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) for  its Japanese grant aided rehabilitation and commissioning work in  the Ganges -Kabodakh Irrigation (GKI) Project  that involves replacement of  three large pumps each driven by a 3 MW synchronous motor by the new ones by the Japanese contractor EBARA.

  •  Determination ( January - December 2009) of under frequency settings for the feeders for auto load shedding and the frequency ranges for the generators in  Bangladesh Power System to avert blackout  as requested by Power Grid Company of Bangladesh  Ltd. (PGCB).

  •  "Study (August-November 2009) on the impacts on Bangladesh Grid System due to the proposed 46 MW (including 33 MW induction heating furnace) load of H-Steel Re-rolling Mills Ltd. at Baraulia, Chittagong  and their mitigations."

Laboratory Development/Up gradation and Maintenance

·        Set up the Control Systems Laboratory of EEE Dept. BUET and served as the Lab In-charge (1994-1999). The lab has been equipped to provide experimental facilities on, among others, Microprocessor based temperature control, Conveyor system controlled by Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Digital control of DC servomotor's speed and position, Digital simulation using MATLAB package for verifying Control Systems theories, AC servo systems, and Process control simulation.

·        Served as the Lab In-charge (August 2003- July 2007) of Switchgear and Protection Laboratory in EEE Dept., BUET. The lab is equipped with PC based digital relays having  interfaces with air  and vacuum circuit breakers.
